Dragon Age Origins Battle Mage

Magic in Dragon Age Origins is not hugely different from any other RPG. When playing the mage, skills are not very important at all and in fact even less so. All offer aid in battle while the “Glyphs' sub-school offers protection from enemies.
Worth putting some points into dex, so you can actually hit something:)And for your second specialization choose spirit healer to get some of the good healing spells if you want that paladin feel. Also haste is pretty good too, but you'll need even more dex to hit stuff like what ModerateOsprey said. It would also be a good idea to get some spells that hit multiple targets like mind blast, cone of cold, etc. Just so you don't get over run by a lot of enemies.
Staying simple - magic provides your power, but you need willpower to give you the mana needed to keep up a flow of spellcasting. If you want a deep well of mana, you will also need to invest in willpower.Taking my earlier comments into account, you also need to invest in dex, so you can actually hit something with your weapon. You can sacrifice the investment in willpower if you are willing to chug mana potions. An arcane warrior is a pile of fun to play, BTW. Some players actually complain it is overpowered, but if you want your charcter to be the atom bomb of DA:O, it is the way to go:)If you are comfortable modding your game, there is a mod that allows you to respec your character and your party members anytime. The mod is also done quite well in that it fits ito the gameplay and the vibe of the game.
Morrigan shapeshifter/arcane warrior. She adds her amor value onto the armor of her shapeshifted form. The items you give her should prioritise armor and hp regen.
- Dragon Age: Origins is an epic fantasy role-playing game featuring a rich story, personality-driven characters, and tactical, bloody combat. It is considered a spiritual successor to the Baldur's Gate series.
- ^ This Also I absolutely smashed him with my archer build as well (Arrow of Slaying, Pinning Shot, debuff, debuff, stealth, auto crit, Arrow of Slaying) with dirty fighting if he gets close.
She can have the highest armor in the game when in her dire bear form. Because so far I've just dumped them all into magic. I'm only like level 2 or 3 Put everything into magic until you actually pick the arcane specialixation - AFTER that you will want to put in enough DEX so that you have 30 in total - then everything into magic again. As for spells, anything that can be casted without having to skeath your weapons.Someone mentiones spirit healer as a second specialization. That is indeed a good second specialization, especially so as you wanted to make a 'paladin' character. Otherwise I usually prefer to choose 'blood mage' as second specialization.
That way I can still cast spells left and right. Reason being that you otherwise are a bit low on mana at all times due to all the buffs you want to be up.BTW, try to go for any gear that increases stamina/mana regeneration while in combat. You want 'shimmering shield' up at all times while in combat, but it sadly consumes mana rapidly if you dont have the right gear to counterweight it. Well my arcane warriors at lvl 20 stats are usally are around14 Strength (10 from the start + 4 in the fade DONT PUT ANYTHING HERE!)20-25 Dex (Also 4 in fade)35-45 Wisdom (4 in fade)55-60 Magic (only 2 in the fade)18 Cunning (5 from fade. I only but 3 point here so i can persuade at highest lvl)12 Cons (2 in fade no points here ether)Dont put any points in dex until after lvl 8-10 cause your melee combat will suck.Recomended spellsActive:Glyphs of Paralyse, Glyph of Warding, Glyph of RepulsionMind Blast, Force Field, Crushing PrisonFireball, InfernoCone of ColdArcane BoltPassive:Arcane ShieldRock ArmorMiasmaFlaming WeaponAnd of course all the Specializations spell.
Put the rest of the skill points in what you prefer or need. Also Blood Mage with arcane warrior IS OP. And only templars can ue templar armors.
I like AW, blood mage second and battlemage 3rd.taking the biggest massive armour and shield i can find, and just stack the buffs (arcane shield, mage armor, rock skin, deflect, the 'heal from dead' aura.), with spirit weapons for good measure.using that and the AW's sill, you easily double your armor value from full massive, and also get 50% evade and a 50% ignore change, recuding incoming DPS by 90%becouse that maintain stack takes nearly all your mana, blood mage can be used to use effective spells (fireball still is great), since you won't really need your hitpoints anyway. Arcane / Blood is a better combo than Arcane / spirit healer by a mile. Just throw on massive armour weapon + shield. Max healing tree in creation, get at least stone armour in primal, arcane shield in the arcane tree, telekenetic weapons (all the way to crushing prison). Fire tree syncs well here too (fireball is beast as ♥♥♥♥ to drop on yourself you can easily tank this in nightmare if needed and knock everyone down.) make sure to get miasmia from the paralysis tree also.
Late game make sure you get wisp sustained spell for a SP boost.other than that just make sure you have high magic, VERY HIGH DEXTERITY (or you will NOT HIT ANYTHING) and oddly enough i find high wisdom particullarly useful. With blood magic fatigue dosent mean ♥♥♥♥, but a high mana bar can enable ♥♥♥♥ tons of sustained effects to boost you through the roof.for awakening get the 100% spirit damage ring go battle mage / spirit healer. Spam the spirit damage aura from battle mage and even doing the harvester on nightmare you are nigh unkillable (i've soloed the room with 10 golems that locks on nightmare this way.).
My preferred class is a Human male Noble Rogue, altho it is only the 'Rogue' part that matters really ^^Rogues is DA:O are incredibly powerful fighters, while being masters of stealth, assassination, ranged, and lockpicking;)Infact Rogues generally have a far higher DMG output then the warrior has, 2 weapon fighting is lethal since you can stun an opponant for x amount of time, and shower him with Crit hits (all attacks when you have the rgue skills up when an opponant is stunned are treated as crits)Besides. That depends on what you want to build, since the Rogue is most open, but those are 3 very good stats to put points in.I ended up with something like 48 Str, I think my dex was in the 50 range, and cunning I only used to use my assassin skills, and rogue skills, (they give a nice dmg bonus with the assassin trait). But constitution is good to have, If you are low on points there is an awesome ring in the dwarven city that gives you alot of health.
Dragon Age Origins Arcane Warrior Battle Mage Build
Stamina and magic skills are fairly 'moot'As I said, since your class has no impact on strength or dmg output in itself (if it has it is seriously limited considering I had way more HP then Alistair), it is possible to make the Rogue a master of all traits, or just the ones you want, I do prefer the dual weilding close combatant one, partly because he has the ability to fight really dirst and have something like an average dmg output in the 90s per hit. (with flurry of blows that lends to a serious dmg output). If you prefer piercing weapons then dex is a must, but I went for slashing, and the blood dragon armor + the helmet from the dlc + longswords with dual mastery, I needed strength more then dex overall (dex was quite useful when it came to thief skills, so stocked up on them too. With the metorite sword and the mean arse axe the trader in the camp sells, it made for an instantly lethal combo.I guess that is why I liked my Rogue so much, dual speciality, dualist and assassin allows you to block something like half of all incomming blows automaticly making them void, and if they passed I had this insane armor. Some people say that you can do a dex build and it will be just as good (because he/she will be hard to even hit at all) I belive that is true ^^Im on my 4th playthrough now ^^ did 2 different rogue builds a mage build and a warrior build.
I can reccomend trying out the build you think it good, the game is quite good in that way. It is rare I see anyone claim that thier builds was a total waste. Altho I did make the mistake of making a warrior build first, since that class has the least amount of possibilities to manipulate his/her surroundings.
