Dark Souls 3's covenants offer rewards for co-op gameplay — though some covenants are nicer than others. The Covenants system is entirely optional, but it adds a layer of functionality to the game. I can do 2 player co-op just fine but if I try to get more than that it doesn't show their soapstone on the ground what do I need to do?

Dark souls co op limits

Dont be fooled. This desision was not due to people being sick of getting ”ganked” when invading hosts, no this was done to please the people that just wanted to play through the game in easy mode.Key word: EasyThis is the casualization of the soul series! Mark my word for it!!!In started at ds2 and will never end, because we’re the minority. So its in no ones place to complain about it, if you dont like this then tough, because thats what Souls is turnig into now. The Devs always tend to the bigger audience, dark souls 1 fans unfortunetly are not a part of that audience. Hmmm when I think about the recurring clashes between PVP-ers and PVE-ers, maybe it’s for the best From my experience the PVP community (which I’m supposedly part of) seems to cause more problems (whine, point fingers, clash, etc) than anything.Nevertheless, this is a dramatic change in the 'souls phylosophy'. Makes me wonder if this change will occur because the developers do listen to the communities (it’s such a mess that I feel compelled to use plural here.

Gone are the days where the community used to be one sigh). With the multiple simultaneous invasions thing, pretty sure gank spank will still be a thing though (and trolling of course). I sense a new forest covenant coming our way:p.

That’s a fair point, but it seems a bit odd. Sure they might limit stuff, but if its a network test wouldn’t they want to test how well the multiplayer works across the network. On another point, from the sounds of it it seems the 'Lord of Cinder Mode' is what Body Form was for Demon Souls. You can play through the game with never being able to summon co-op or being invaded, or you can switch to a mode where you can summon players and in turn be invaded by others. Seems to fit right in with the fact the LoC effects dissappear upon death. On one hand, I don’t care if other people can co-op with four people.

I never co-op, except on certain bosses if I’m having a really tough time, or am crunched for time and need to get it done quick. Invading gank squads isn’t often fun either. On the other hand, if it becomes popular to co-op at all times to eliminate the potential for PvP, then that would really suck.

Though as Fex points out, we don’t know if this is just a network test restriction or not. It may be their way of 'balancing' the Red Eye Orb: since it has unlimited uses, it gives PvE’ers a way out while still playing online. Not a good way of balancing it IMO, but we will know more tomorrow, eh?Also, invading someone’s world (and being invaded yourself) is one of the major appeals of Dark Souls IMO. It captures the feel of older, open-world free PvP MMOs, where you never know if you’ll be attacked, and that uncertainty (and the spontaneous combat it creates, and the organic narratives of rivalry and triumph/defeat it creates) is very fun, and something missing from most modern games.EDIT: Also, this Lord of Cinder mode sounds too similar to the HP penalty for invadrs in Bloodborne, which was a huge pain in the ass.

Giving the host 1.4x HP sounds like a huge bonus for them, though if the invader can heal it does counterbalance it somewhat.2nd EDIT: Having never played Demon Souls, I’m hearing this is similar to the system from Demon Souls. Confirm/deny anyone? Im talking about the Lord of Cinder system, where by you gain 1.4x hp, but are open to invasions. Also, do invaders in Lord of Cinder mode gain the hp bonus as well? Because that would be fine.

Since they have gone through the trouble to clarify there is a max of 6 players at a time my guess is that there will be an option to 'opt into' co oped invasions (most likely from a covenant item). I really see no harm in something like that. Since, if the majority of players truly want that, they’ll all just opt in.Either way, it’s still too early to jump to many conclusions.

I can’t help but laugh a bit, as everyone was going 'it’s Dark Souls 1! It’s Dark Souls 1!' And those very same people are now going, 'it’s going to suck balls!' I learned my lesson from Dark Souls 2. If you’re expecting Dark Souls 1, you’ll be disappointed. Expect Dark Souls 3.Cas.
