The guns, levels, and everything else were designed by hand to allow for breakneck, relentless action with a good challenge and a high skill ceiling.

Shadow Warrior 2 has a very big emphasis on random generation. The guns, the levels, and the enemies are all generated on the fly, leading to level layouts that make no sense, guns that don't really work, and enemies with strange elemental combinations. Oh, and you'll be spending a lot of time in menus, trying to find just the right gems to upgrade your guns with. In Doom, an upgrade for your shotgun means attaching a grenade launcher to it. In Shadow Warrior, upgrading your shotgun means +12% critical chance against very large enemies (yes, that's actually a potential upgrade).
